Run BCCD virtually

Mac OS X

Virtual Box

These instructions have been verified for:

  1. Browse to the BCCD downloads page.
  2. Click the latest, 64-bit version.
  3. Browse to the VirtualBox downloads page.
  4. Click the x86/amd64 link next to OS X hosts.
  5. Wait for the download to finish.
  6. Click the dmg file that was just downloaded.
  7. Wait for the dmg file to open.
  8. Click the Finder icon.
  9. Double-click the VirtualBox.pkg file.
  10. Follow the instructions (Keep clicking Continue, Install, and/or Close, and enter your admin password, until it finishes).
  11. Find VirtualBox in your Applications folder, or use spotlight to find it.
  12. Click the blue New button in the top left corner of the pop-up window.
  13. Enter bccd as the name, for the type choose Linux, and for the version, choose Other Linux (64-bit), and click Continue.
  14. Click Continue to choose the default memory size (512M).
  15. Click Create to create a new virtual hard drive.
  16. Click Continue to choose VDI.
  17. Click Continue to choose dynamically allocated.
  18. Click Create to finish creating the virtual HD.
  19. Click the orange Settings button at the top-left corner of the pop-up window
  20. Click the Storage tab.
  21. Under the Storage Tree, next to Controller: IDE, hover over the icons until you find the Add CD/DVD Device icon, and click it.
  22. Click Choose disk.
  23. Find and select the BCCD iso image you downloaded earlier.
  24. Click OK.
  25. Press the green Start button at the top-left corner of the window.
  26. You are now ready to run BCCD!
